Sticky & Sweet: How to Make Cannabis-Infused Gummies

Cannabis-infused gummy candies are so popular that when an adult tells you they’ve “taken a gummy,” you pretty much know it included weed. Commercial THC and CBD gummies are widely available in legal markets and online, but it’s easy and fun to make your own infused gummies.

Creating gummies at home allows you to control the ingredients, ensuring they are free from artificial additives, and tailored to your flavour and dosage preferences. Homemade gummies also make charming gifts, especially when creatively wrapped and packaged in cute jars or bags.

Whether you're looking to relax with a touch of cannabis or just want to make delicious, chewy candies, our recipe is simple and easily adaptable.

How to Make Cannabis Infused Gummies

Ingredients & Equipment

  • 1 cup cannabis-infused fruit juice (any flavour) OR 1 cup fruit juice
  • 2 tablespoons gelatin powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • Silicone gummy molds
  • A dropper or small spoon for filling molds
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk

Preparation Time
Infusing juice: Approx. 2 hours (can be made in advance)
Making gummies: 20 minutes
Chilling Time: 2 hours

Yield: 50-plus gummy candies, depending on the size of your molds.

Step 1: Infuse Fruit Juice with Cannabis

Start by heating - i.e. “decarbing” your weed. Decarboxylation is a scientific term for heating your cannabis to activate its psychoactive potential. It’s simpler than it sounds.

1. Heat the Buds
  • Preheat your oven to 245ºF
  • Remove flowers but don’t discard the stems; they make excellent tea.
  • Place the buds on a non-stick tray.
  • Set the timer for 35 minutes and leave your cannabis buds to bake. Then let them cool for another hour.

2. Grind the Decarbed Buds

Don’t chuck your baked buds into butter! You need to coarsely grind them to kickstart the release of THC and CBD. Employ our four-layer grinder, which lets you preserve the kief and use it for other recipes.

3. Infuse the Juice

  • In a saucepan, combine the decarbed cannabis with 1 cup of fruit juice.
  • Heat on low, stirring occasionally, for 30-45 minutes. Make sure the juice doesn't boil to prevent the THC from degrading.
  • Strain the juice through a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer to remove the plant material. Your infused fruit juice is now ready to use.

Step 2: Make Gummies

  1. Pour the cannabis-infused fruit juice into a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until it starts to simmer.
  1. Gradually sprinkle the gelatin powder into the juice, whisking continuously to avoid clumps.
  1. Continue to whisk for about 5 minutes until the gelatin is fully dissolved.
  1. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the honey or agave syrup, stirring until well combined.
  1. Use a dropper or small spoon to carefully fill the gummy bear molds with the mixture. Be sure to fill the mold all the way to the top.
  1. Place the filled molds in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the gummies are firm.
  1. Once set, remove the gummy bears from the molds and enjoy!
